When you plant a tree, you might be tempted to tie it to a stake for support. But did you know that most trees don’t need stakes? You might be doing more harm than good!

The movement of a tree in the wind creates small stresses on the trunk that stimulate the entire tree to grow stronger. Withstanding the day-to-day breezes makes the tree stronger—and able to weather the larger storms that sometimes occur.

Humans are like that, too. If your life is too soft, you’ll never get strong!
